Eco Picnic
We’d like to thank everyone for being so proactive with their endeavours to keep the festival site clean by using the bins and recycling where possible. However we have a long way to go, as I’m sure anyone who witnesses the leftover tents & debris in the campsites on the Monday after the weekend will agree. Lets keep making these leaps towards a cleaner festival!
We have worked with a number of environmental groups and consultancies, including Cultivate, Friends of the Earth and Ecocem, to begin the process of creating a Carbon Responsible Electric Picnic. We are working on a long term strategy to reduce our carbon footprint and using Irish Verified Emission Reductions to offset all unavoidable energy consumption and associated emissions.
www.Cultivate.ie host a large area within Global Green which they also curate, where they work to communicate the message of reducing our environmental impact throughout the festival, and will be available to advise festival goers on these issues throughout the weekend.

Traders
We ask all traders to issue the minimum packaging possible, asking them to use approved, compostable wooden cutlery and card disposables. As there are many paper alternatives we would like to significantly reduce the amount of plastic on site and polystyrene is not allowed in any form. We ask all participating traders to use Fair Traded & Organic products where possible, especially Teas, Coffees, Sugar Sachets, Drinking Chocolate & Bananas.
Recycling
We’re hoping to surpass our successful recycling efforts last year with an even greater number of recycling options. There will be an increased number of large and small recycling containers positioned in key areas of the festival grounds for people to bring their waste to for recycling throughout the course of the weekend.
There will also be 'Bin Your Empties' Recycling Stations around the site for those who find themselves too far from the larger Recycling Stations, these are serviced regularly and the BYE crew are on hand with little motivating treats and rewards for recyclers.
Plastic, glass, aluminium cans, paper and cardboard waste can be recycled.
Waste bags are distributed to festival goers for the weekend for gathering their waste, and on a daily basis you are encouraged to make the trip to the nearest Recycling Station to dispose of them.

Electric Picnic are aware of the environmental impact of people travelling to the festival. Please don’t drive – use public transport to get to the festival. (www.buseireann.ie / www.irishrail.ie) If you have to drive, try car pooling - www.tripmi.ie
