Greencrafts
Greencrafts is a leading event production team staging open-air participatory Craft Villages at Festivals. Promoting sustainable living through education, Greencrafts specialise in Event Greening, offering hands-on craft activities to the public as part of a vibrant community atmosphere.
Greencrafts actively engage new audiences, shifting the profile of traditional craft practice. With an aim to equip people to re-think a role for traditional craft practice that’s aligned to sustainable development, all activities are powered off-grid, using green energy sourced via sun, wind or peddle power and using predominantly renewable or recycled materials. The public are invited to participate in skill share activities and workshops providing access to the knowledge and tools that both empower and cultivate sustainable lifestyles.
The project enterprise was founded in 1992 by Nic Piper and Marie Brett, each with over 20 years experience of event and project management. Greencrafts Villages have been showcased at some of the largest Music and Arts Festivals in Europe offering intimate to huge Greencrafts Villages with over 180 professional artists/craftspeople in their stable.
All Greencrafts workshops and activities are delivered by tutors who live and breathe their craft and are experts in their field. All tutors bring their own portable workspace studio, specialist tools and prepared materials. Greencrafts has a comprehensive health and safety strategy in place and an exemplary record for safety while offering the public some exceptionally exciting activities from using a charcoal blacksmithing forge, to a learning to cleave using an axe.
Some of the festivals which have worked with Nic and Marie to host a Greencrafts Village include: Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts, Electric Picnic, Wilderness, The Big Green Gathering, and The Body and Soul Festival.
