Midlake
In 1999 Vintage Low-fi rockers Midlake formed after a meeting at the University of North Texas. Although rooted in jazz, Midlake are heavily influenced by Jethro Tull, with a sound sometimes reminiscent of early Fleetwood Mac. They followed their 2004 album Bamnan and Slivercork with 2006’s The Trials of Van Occupanther which was met with critical acclaim.
2010’s The Courage of Others has a more organic feel to it, propelled by the mystical wind of flutes and harpsichords. Watching Midlake on stage you quickly find yourself coming to the conclusion that their music is to be revered and will remain relevant for some time to come.
