Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
Formed in the late 70’s Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) was essentially a two-man operation consisting of Liverpudlians Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. OMD released its first single, Electricity, on Factory Records. The 1980 single Enola Gay," sold 2.5 million copies Worldwide and reached the top of the charts throughout Europe.
The duo recorded a string of hits that put them among the elite of that period's synthpop, dance-friendly bands. McCluskey and Humphrey would form the core of the outfit until the band split in 1989. McCluskey retained the name and continued touring. They announced a reformation in 2006 for both live performances and a new album. 2010’s History of Modern was the bands eleventh studio album and their first album since 1996.
