Paddy Keenan
Perhaps most befitting of the term legendary in the Irish music pantheon. Paddy Keenan burned a trail through traditional music with his work through the Bothy Band and the seminal duo album Doublin' with Paddy Glackin.
Now domiciled in the US, the often cited comparison as the Jimi Hendrix of the uileann pipes is hard to argue with. In the Body & Soul policy of giving our own indigenous music an equal platform to all others it's an honour that this fine musician from our own ancient traveling tradition will grace and, no doubt, fire up our late night stage.
Generally acknowledged as the most accomplished uilleann piper performing today, Paddy is certainly one of the most brilliant musicians of his generation. He can rightfully claim his place alongside such open-style legends as pipers John Cash and Johnny Doran.
