Paul Kalkbrenner
It’s been a long time coming but this year Paul Kalkbrenner makes his Electric Picnic live debut after carving a name for himself as one of the biggest and most respected names in techno. One of the first acts to be signed Ellen Alien’s new BPitch Control label in 1999, Paul’s first big crossover hit came in 2004 with Gebrünn Gebrünn lifted from his third album Self which brought him to the attention of German director Hannes Stohr.
The album served as inspiration for Berlin Calling , a film about a Berlin techno musician in the new millenium that has become a massive worldwide success. As well as composing the soundtrack, Paul also plays the leading role in the film. It was the standout track from the soundtrack Sky and Sand that became one of the biggest dance tracks of 2010, charting in the Top Ten of several countries across Europe.
Kalkbrenner’s incredible live show uses a cleaver combination of synths and drum machines creating an uplifting experience that will show you why he's one of the most in-demand live dance acts in Europe.
